Yukako has been surrounded by music all life. She began private lessons in classical piano and flute when she was five. In 2000 she began studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In addition to her vocal studies she also took classes in music theory, arranging, and composition. After graduating, Yukako moved to New York to continue her musical career. She has been performing all over the city in NY, Tokyo and Yokohama for a variety of occasions: jazz clubs, restaurants/bars such as Kavehaz Jazz Gallery, Robin's Nest, Side Walk Cafe, Seven, Sandia, Misty, Yokohama Bar Bar Bar, Rakuya, Boozy Muse and Jazz Spot J etc. Also, she has played at various private engagements, APEC event and recording sessions. The album called Dream was recorded in NY, Spring 2008. The interpretations of jazz standards and her original songs on this album are the result of the influence of her background, study, daily observation and thoughts. The album "It's the Motion" was released in 2011.
